Help a Youth Attend the 2017 Youth Summi

The 2017 Youth Summit will take place September 22-24 at YMCA Geneva Park and we are inviting our Nature Network groups to sponsor a young person to attend. Last year, 36 groups sponsored 53 individuals and we’d love to continue growing this trend. Please consider sponsoring a local high school student for $350. The sponsorship covers the full cost of participation in the summit, including workshops, meals and lodging. To learn more contact Sarah Hedges.

Cathy Keddy Returns as Ontario East Regional Director

Please join us in welcoming Cathy Keddy back to Ontario Nature’s board of directors. After a hiatus in 2016, she has returned as the Ontario East Regional Director. An ecologist and member of the Mississippi Valley Field Naturalists, Cathy brings with her a wealth of knowledge about conservation and environmental issues in eastern Ontario. We look forward to working with her again this year

Thank You for Supporting our Call to Ban the Hunt

Ontario's snapping turtles have a lot of friends. Twenty seven Nature Network groups signed onto the letter we submitted to the Environmental Registry calling for the snapping turtle hunt to be banned; many also submitted letters of their own. And a ground-breaking 5,633 individuals submitted comments through our website. Thank you very much for your continued support and stay tuned to hear if we are successful.
