Penokean Hills Field Naturalists

Town: Elliot Lake

Ontario Nature Region: Northern - West

The Penokean Hills Field Naturalists exists as an organization to educate and promote interest, knowledge, conservation and preservation of the natural history, habitat and environment of our region for its members and the community at large.

The club is an educational forum for its members and the community at large dedicated to promoting interest, knowledge, conservation and preservation of the natural history, habitat, and environment of this region.

The organization is more than 10 years old and has grown to a membership over 100.

The club has monthly meetings and a full roster of outings for members. Our active conservation committee has a mandate to promote the conservation of the environment through constructive interaction with the local community and organizations, as well as with the municipal, provincial and federal governments. We also care for a 182-hectare wildlife sanctuary, Sherriff Creek, located right in the City of Elliot Lake in partnership with Rio Algom Ltd.
