Halton/North Peel Field Naturalists

Town: Brampton/Georgetown

Ontario Nature Region: Carolinian East

The northern parts of the region of Halton and Peel are blessed with an abundance of beautiful natural areas. The Niagara Escarpment, Oak Ridges Moraine, and the Credit River are only minutes away. The Halton/North Peel Naturalists was established during the 1960s as an organization for people in Brampton, Georgetown, Milton and surrounding areas to share their enjoyment of nature. Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month in Georgetown. Club members and invited guest speakers give talks and slide presentations on a variety of subjects that would interest anyone with a love for nature.

At least once a month, and sometimes more often, an outing is scheduled to visit an area of natural interest to club members. Outings may be planned to take advantage of opportunities for observing birds, wildflowers, ferns, amphibians or a host of other topics. Club members are always willing to share their own knowledge with others on these trips. During the summer, evening walks are sometimes scheduled on a weekly basis. Once a month, our Junior Naturalist Club, for children 6 to 12 years of age, helps our younger members develop an appreciation of the wonders of nature that surround them.
