Member Group Detail

Huron Fringe Field Naturalists

Town: Pine River

Ontario Nature Region: Great Lakes West

Whether they are building bluebird boxes or planting native trees, the goal of our 170-plus members is to encourage a better understanding of the natural history and heritage of the Lake Huron shoreline and inland areas. The club was formed in 1985 and draws members from an area ranging from the Bayfield area in the south to the Tiverton-Invenhuron area in the north and also reaches inland to include members of the Clinton and Lucknow areas. Our objectives are to: preserve wildlife and its natural history; promote a public interest in, and knowledge of, the natural history of the area; and promote, encourage and cooperate with organizations and individuals having similar interests and objectives.

The club has been involved in projects ranging from teaching children to build bluebird boxes (and building them ourselves) and assisting with the preservation of the Morris Tract Area near Benmiller (Goderich area) to taking part in the Kincardine Annual Christmas Bird Count and the Huron County International Plowing Match at the Conservation Learning Centre booth.
