Great Lakes Wildlife Research was formed in 2017. The principal focus of our research organisation is to promote the conservation and management of wildlife species in urban, rural and forested landscapes of northern Ontario. We study wild species and their habitats, and provide outreach and educational programming within Algoma region to increase public understanding of local wildlife ecology and conservation issues.

Currently, we are working closely with other conservation groups, educational institutions and government agencies to study, manage and protect the very large Chimney Swift population that roosts in downtown Sault Ste Marie each spring. Visit the Algoma SwiftWatch page for more information:
