Friends of the Massasauga Park have a mission to enhance Massasauga Provincial Park by providing and maintaining trails, interpretive signage, historical sites and other facilities within the park. They are also dedicated to educating the public about the history of Massasauga Provincial Park through the presentation of workshops and educational opportunities. Much of the groupís focus has been on developing a working agreement with Ontario Parks for oversight of Massasauga Provincial Park. They conducted a series of community forums, presentations and surveys in 2011 to help establish their mandate, and in 2012, organized two trail maintenance and cleanup days in the park.
Their public consultation process identified several priority goals as they expand their future activities. These goals include restoring Calhoune Lodge, developing new interpretive hiking trails in the park and creating natural history programs that will be delivered by park staff.
