Huronia Land Conservancy

Town: Midland-Penetanguishene

Ontario Nature Region: Huronia

The Huronia Land Conservancy began in 2009 as a voluntary, unincorporated association whose purpose was to form a charitable land trust in north Simcoe County centred on Midland and Penetanguishene. Their mission is to preserve, protect and restore the important natural and cultural lands of Huronia for their own sake and for present and future generations. In November 2011, the group received registered charitable status. Since that time they have:

  • Completed their first landowner contract and received approval for membership with the Ontario Land Trust Alliance.
  • Presented to the Midland-Penetanguishene and Orillia Field Naturalists clubs.
  • Established partnerships with the Couchiching Conservancy, Georgian Bay Land Trust, Severn Sound Environmental Association, Wye Marsh Conservation Centre, Midland-Penetanguishene Field Naturalists and MTM Conservation Association.
