The Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation

Town: King City

Ontario Nature Region: Provincial Partner

The Oak Ridges Moraine Foundation was created to provide support and encouragement for activities that preserve, protect, and restore the environmental integrity of the Oak Ridges Moraine as well as to support a trail along it. The Foundation works with the numerous stakeholders on moraine-related projects in five main program areas: stewardship, securement, Oak Ridges Trail, research and education. One of these projects, the Caring for the Moraine Project, includes 30+ stewardship nonprofit organizations working together to increase landowner awareness about the moraine, increase its natural cover and protect its water resources. The project accomplishes this through many different methods including: direct letter mail outs, property visits, workshops and on-site technical and financial assistance to implement on-the-ground projects on private moraine properties.
