Basic Forum Guidelines - Keeping it Friendly and Informative
Topics and Threads
Topics and threads are the focus of the message boards. Feel free to create new topics (called threads) under each Topic. If you have a suggestion for a new topic, please feel free to email us at info@ontarionature.org with your suggestion! After all, this is your community! If we feel this topic is appropriate and that there would be community activity within this topic, we will put the topic up for you.
Agree to Disagree
While we encourage great interaction between members, there are times when you may disagree with another member’s opinion on a topic. There is nothing wrong with openly disagreeing with another community member; however we do ask that you respect each others opinions and not attack someone for disagreeing with something you have to say or believe in. This relates to religion, races, politics and basic everyday living. Please do not call names, flame (another word for attacking an individual on a message board) or encourage verbal arguments on the board. If your words cause another member to be embarrassed or harassed, this will not be tolerated and the offending thread will be removed without notice.
Please Watch Your Language
The Ontario Nature Online Community prides itself on being a destination for all ages and a warm and welcoming environment. Vulgar, explicit and obscene material and language is not tolerated. Posts that contain offensive language, graphics or hint at offensive behavior, will be removed without notice. Putting up partially spelled offensive words and using symbols such as asterisks to replace letters is also considered offensive in nature, as the words are still understandable. We reserve the right to go in and remove these posts from the Message Boards. We will also remove any posts by members using questionable or explicit user names. Please choose a username that you are comfortable with, yet will not offend visitors to this community.
Displaying Personal Information
We can not stress how important this point is. Do NOT under any circumstances post your personal information such as your name, phone number or address. If you have children using the Ontario Nature Online Community we ask that you keep an eye on them so that they do not mention the names of their schools, teachers or favorite hang outs in your city for their personal protection. Ontario Nature will remove all posts that expose personal information for your safety. We also insist that you do not expose the personal information of fellow community members under any circumstance. To do this is to break privacy. Such posts will be removed and the offending community member may have his or her community privileges removed.
Please Stay On Topic
While posting in the message boards is fun, there are message boards that relate to certain serious topics. We ask that you respect these topics and allow them to carry on, on topic, without repeatedly posting general conversation posts. There are several off-topic message boards that you may use to carry on fun and fast off-topic discussions. However, if you see a message board that is relating to a topic, please respect the topic and those who wish to talk about that topic alone. Should there be far too many off-topic posts and should we receive complaints about off-topic discussions taking place in topic oriented message board, we reserve the right to go in and remove off topic conversation posts in order to regain focus of the topic.
Do Not Post Off-Site Commercial Posts
All posts that contain URLs pointing to commercial sites will be removed immediately. We do not allow multi-level marketing posts or sites which remain questionable in the eyes of the Ontario Nature Online Community Team.
Posts and Copyrighted Information
Copyrights exist for the protection of the organization or individual who wrote the information or article. We ask that you do not post information taken from magazines, articles or books without the consent of the owner. The individual who posts this information will be held responsible. Ontario Nature will not be held responsible for any information posted by members which violates the law of copyright.

We reserve the right to delete messages that we feel may be harmful to others or that may encourage criminal or distasteful behavior. Posts that do not relate to the topic at hand may be removed. Ontario Nature reserves the right to re-name message boards and topic headers, remove and rearrange posts in order to create the best possible environment for its members.
