Ontario Nature's Teaching Naturally staff and volunteers are busy all year helping youth leaders and teachers connect young people with nature! Some events are open to the public; others are not. Call if you are interested in attending any of these events.

LEAF Volunteer Orientation

Come out to our next volunteer orientation session and find out how you can use your skills to help Toronto's urban forest! LEAF (Local Enhancement and Appreciation of Forests) is a not-for-profit group dedicated to protecting and improving Toronto's urban forest. This session will cover basic issues which face our urban forest, LEAF's programs, and volunteer opportunities with LEAF. Registration is required.

Bike Week
Starts Monday, May 28th, 2007

The annual celebration of bicycle culture features events for cyclists of every stripe, from family-friendly group rides to extreme BMX and mountain bike action. Presented by the City of Toronto.

Camp Kawartha / Ontario Nature Youth Nature Camp

Join with fellow campers to explore the natural world of Ontario's Kawartha Region. As well as participating in our regular camping programs such as climbing, canoeing, kayaking, sailing and much more, campers in this session will be exposed to exciting, hands-on nature adventures. Clean Air Day
First Wednesday in

Clean Air Day (CAD) was proclaimed by the Government of Canada to increase public awareness and action on two key environmental priorities, clean air and climate change. It is part of Canadian Environment Week, which was created to promote and to celebrate activities that care and nurture our environmental legacy.

COEO (The Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario) Conference
End of September

The Council of Outdoor Educators of Ontario is a non-profit, volunteer organization which promotes personal growth through quality outdoor experiences, and acts as a professional body for outdoor educators in the province of Ontario. Their annual Conference is held in the last weekend of September.

Earth Day
April 22nd

The Earth Day Network, a non-profit organization, co-ordinates the worldwide Earth Day events, activities, and annual campaigns to promote a healthy environment and a peaceful, just, sustainable world. The network is still headed by the organizers of the original Earth Day, Gaylord Nelson and Denis Hayes, in Seattle, Washington.

Environment Week
Early June

A national event devoted to environmental issues and activities that focuses on preserving, protecting, and restoring the natural environment. Environment Week takes place in early June each year to coincide with World Environment Day, proclaimed by the United Nations in 1972 and celebrated on June 5.

International Buy Nothing Day

Many countries worldwide experience the International Buy Nothing Day/No Shop Day. Buy Nothing Day is a day of cheerful and critical protest against Western over consumption, the unequal worldwide distribution of well-being and wealth, and the influence of advertising on our daily lives.

National Wildlife Week

Om Summer Solstice Festival

OSEE (Ontario Society for Environmental Education) Conference
Early May

OSEE is an association for educators dedicated to the promotion and improvement of environmental education. Each year they conduct a conference consisting of diverse presentations and activities for environmental educators and others interested in the environment.

STAO (Science Teachers’ Association of Ontario) Conference

This organization provides leadership and service to Science Educators in Ontario. Their annual conference allows Science and Technology Educators to learn something new, share ideas with others, and discuss new ideas with your colleagues. It features speakers and presenters who address current issues in Science and Technology Education.
