Conservation Authorities of Ontario

Ontario has 36 conservation authorities dedicated to conserving and managing natural resources on a watershed basis. Established under the Conservation Authorities Act, these environmental agencies have authority in the areas of water resources management, environmental protection and public education. Most southern Ontario watersheds lie within the boundaries of a conservation authority, as do several large northern communities (Thunder Bay, Timmins, Sudbury, North Bay and Sault Ste. Marie).
