Not Today

One day I’ll look out the window and see darkness,
But not today.
One day I’ll watch the trees fall down,
But not today.
One day I’ll watch the snow melt and never come again,
But not today.
One day I’ll watch the people fade away,
But not today.
One day I’ll the watch the animals go one by one
never to return,
But not today.
Today I’ll wait and watch.
And one day,
One day I’ll be leaving the world behind,
and I’ll look back and wonder what I did
but wait.
And watch.
