Wreath Making with Ontario Nature

December 9, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 3:30 pm

Help Ontario Nature remove scots pine trees on the Cawthra Mulock Nature Reserve and take home a unique, sustainable holiday wreath from the cuttings!

Scots pine is a fast growing, invasive species that out-competes native forest plants. Historically, Scots pine was introduced as a way to restore previously logged areas.

Join us and create your own holiday wreath while helping return this property to its natural state.

We will provide the wreath frame, branches, ribbon, twine and gloves. Feel free to bring along your own items to personalize your wreath! Hot beverages and lunch will be provided. Please be sure to indicate any dietary restrictions when you register.

Time: Scots Pine removal will begin at 10 AM. Lunch will be served at 1 PM and wreath making will follow, ending at 3:30 PM.

Meeting Location: Please meet at the parking lot at the end of the access road off of Bathurst Street. Continue driving past the house down the access road. The parking lot will be at the end with space to turn around.

To Bring:

  • Re-fillable water bottle
  • Mug (for soup)
  • Travel mug (for hot drinks)
  • Tools you would like to use to make your wreath (i.e. pliers, )
  • Dress warmly (gloves, hat, jacket, layering for clothes)
