September 20, 2017 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Please join us for an evening reception to Celebrate Simcoe’s Natural Heritage on September 20th, 2017 at the Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery in Barrie!

The Oak Ridges Moraine Partnership (Ontario NatureEcoSparkSTORM Coalition and Earthroots) and the Simcoe County Greenbelt Coalition are hosting this evening reception to celebrate Simcoe’s natural heritage and to acknowledge the role that the community has in protecting nature.

Speakers include:

  • David Crombie, Advisory Panel Chair for the Coordinated Land Use Planning Review
  • Anne Bell, Ontario Nature’s Director of Conservation and Education
  • Key Note Speaker Gord Miller, Ontario’s Environmental Comissioner from 2000-2015

Natural heritage system planning is an important tool to address biodiversity loss, land use change and the uncertainties of climate change. The Province, upon the advice of a special panel chaired by David Crombie, has released for consultation a draft Natural Heritage System for the Greater Golden Horseshoe (GGH).

At this reception, we will acknowledge the progress we’ve made, and still need to make, in natural heritage protection to ensure that future generations have access to a healthy natural environment with clean air, land and water across the GGH. This includes celebrating nature and acknowledging the critical involvement of community members to protect nature, water and communities in Simcoe County and beyond.

There will be light refreshments, a cash bar and brewery tours!

Please RSVP by September 15, 2017. Space is limited.

This event is generously supoprted by the Ontario Trillium Foundation and the Friends of the Greenbelt Foundation.
