Where you will stay (when applicable):

Simple:

Often camping, and participants will be asked to bring a tent. It is also recommended that participants bring a sleeping mat. Cooking and washing facilities are basic, and showers may not be available everyday.

Standard:

Dormitory style accommodations. Facilities usually include bunk-beds and showers.

Superior:

Cottages, hotels and field study centers. Showers and beds are available (usually in twin or single rooms) as well as separate eating areas.

The Jewels of Pelee Island, July 27 to August 3, 2009
The wonderful world of pollinators: hone your insect identification skills on beautiful Pelee Island. Join Ontario Nature conservation staff and invertebrate expert, Bob Bowles, to participate in an inventory of the island's extraordinary butterflies and dragonflies. We will explore the Stone Road Alvar Conservation Area and its unique assortment of flora and fauna, and visit the Pelee Island Heritage Centre.

Exploring Lost Bay, August 8, 2009
SORRY, THIS TRIP IS FULL

Explore the extensive wetlands of the Lost Bay Nature Reserve by canoe and discover the wide variety of turtle and dragonfly species that live there. With the guidance of Ontario Nature conservation staff and local experts, you will collect valuable information on the precarious existence of the wetland's inhabitants including our dwindling reptile species and how we can help protect them.

Bruce Alvar Bug Out Family & Youth Event, August 19, 2009
Under the expert guidance of a University of Guelph entomologist, you will help Ontario Nature conservation staff identify the myriad bugs that crawl, hop, and fly around the Bruce alvar Nature Reserve along the Bruce Peninsula. Learn about the unique ecosystems within the Great Lakes alvars and their specialized plants and animals.

Volunteer for Nature Leadership Training Course, September 26 & 27, 2009
The Volunteer for Nature Leadership Training Course will provide you with the necessary skills to successfully head up community volunteer groups. During this two-day course, you will develop important group and project management skills, and learn how to lead conservation volunteers in the field. Upon completion of the training course, you will be certified to lead Volunteer for Nature groups with Ontario Nature.
